Blazers, dress LOFT review

Darlings, aren't you glad that I have procrastinated this far to do a LOFT review (some of the packages date back a month ago)? I totally meant to wait this long so you won't be tempted to buy during their extra 50% off sale ... LOL. Awww, but I do feel bad but I know that LOFT will be having some great deals soon so hopefully it won't be too late!

Dolman "Sweater" Top (XS)- It's actually not a sweater. In fact I have t-shirts that have a thicker material than this. I wore it in an outfit forgetting how much I got it for. ($25) So sadly I won't be able to return it. I would recommend this if it went on sale. Wide sleeves with a ribbed fit at the bottom.
Yay for large, comfortable puppy slippers!
Corduroy Blazer (00p) - (see part 1 review here) The color is definitely more flattering for my warm skinned tone. The fit is a massive improvement. I love corduroy for its flexible yet very warm fit. I haven't worn this yet since I'm still debating whether or not I will get much use out of it...Everyone needs a warm blazer right? Right....?

Scuba Blazer (00) - The petite sizing wasn't available so yes I already knew this wasn't going to work out. Sleeves are too long and the armholes were too low. Other bloggers have mentioned this fabric. It is absolutely amazing, so comfortable! The blazer is not as stiff as the other blazers that I have tried in the past. It is definitely for the fall/winter for I wore this for about 15 minutes inside the house and I was starting to feel very warm. Its a great blazer for the fall/winter time but I have a hard time seeing this blazer in the spring and summer ...
I tried using the LOFT client service thanks to Elle's post. Apparently they haven't marked the petite sizing so it is still $199 ... what a freaking pity since I saw a regular size that is $40 in the store.
Compared to the Express blazer, I like that the width of the sleeves are not as huge looking. I'm surprised to say the the Express 00 tapered closer to my waist than this one.
I am actually going to still keep it and wait to see if the petite sizing will get marked down. I like the material for its comfort and will consider tailoring it if they decide not to markdown the petite sizing.
Scuba Sheath dress **Currently sold out online but check in stores! - Now, there are plenty of positives on the fabric as discussed here. However, I wore a sweater today that sheds and it seems to have an affinity towards the Scuba fabric. SO ALERT, this fabric may be soft but it does seem to magnetize pieces of lint. It is often the case that soft fabric is really good at picking up tricky little boogers like lint.
I originally bought the 0p online but I went back in the store and tried the 00p. Here are the fit comparisons.

Vicky did a review on the same dress in 00p! It looks fab on her, click here for her review. ExtraPetite and ReallyPetite also picked up this dress so hopefully they will do a review on it too.

0p
+ Armholes fit really nicely.
+Good length.
-Too big in the waist and the hip area.
-Weird floating seam
00p
+Better view in the front with the waist and hips
-Length is still appropriate
-Floating Seam makes me look PREGNANT. =0(
-Roomy in the waist - back view.
-Armholes seem to fit a little too snug.

Initially I thought the extra seam detailing on the side was cute. However there is that little booger that isn't completely sewn down, it just floats. See circled detail above and the horrifying result below:
I AM NOT PREGNANT BY THE WAY.
I really can't resist the cute details on the shoulder of the dress though. I'm still on the fence about this dress. I guess I can easily sew (or ask a professional to do it) the floating seam down?
When I went inside LOFT yesterday I did make the sales clerks angry by exchanging, returning, using their LOFT client shipment service, and buying new things. The employees kept rolling their eyes at each other, smirked while I was explaining to them how I needed to go smaller. So I'm a little apprehensive in going back...

Plus Jackets by LOFT at ShopStyle

Elle and I chat on Twitter a lot and we were talking about how we both lusted over the same striped wool blazer from LOFT. Other bloggers have this on their wish list as well including Petite Little Girl and PetiteXXS.

The material feels like felt instead of wool. Great that it isn't itchy and it is lightweight. It isn't so great if you are looking for something that will keep you warm for a really cold fall or winter. I would say that the LOFT picture is true to color and don't go by my poor cellphone pictures.
Only XS was available in the store. The sleeves are long but can be quickly remedied by folding them. The torso area does have about a good 2-3 inches of room. However, you can't really tell since it does have a curvy shape on its own. There is room for a bulky sweater if you get easily cold like I do. Even though it currently isn't available in petite sizing, I felt like the fit was okay for everything else.
The final conclusion that Elle and I came to was that for $50 probably alright. For me personally I might just wait until it goes to be about $40 for an XXS and about $30 for an XS.

+Good boyfriend length and fit
+Cute nautical colors
-Smaller petites might have difficulty with this one
-Material is lightweight

The corduroy blazer in 00P looks so much better than the 0P size -- much better fit and I actually prefer this color too!

Thanks for the review on the striped wool blazer. The material does look a little thin and might not have a smooth look over thicker sweaters. I'll probably do like you and wait for it to go on sale too before reconsidering.

Great finds, btw!

woohoo, MEGAPOST! :)

But first, congrats on the baby...just kidding. But boy does that dress make you look preggers in the profile picture. The dress is black so the camera didn't pick up on the details so it just looks like there is a very smooth bump underneath (my mom would tell me you are expecting a girl). It looks great from the front though. Maybe I ought to hunt one down and if anyone dare question my food baby I'll just tell them the floating seam is the cause for my protruding stomach.

The first sweater looks cute but $25 is a lot to pay for something thin. But I do dig the puppy slippers...I have homer simpson ones that I wear to pieces.

I like the fit of 00p corduroy blazer on you a lot, much better than the size up. It looks really flattering, sleeves look a little big though but nothing's perfect, I guess. And I want that scuba blazer bad...though the fact that it picks up lint easily makes me a little hesitant. I have one of those dads who walks around with lint rollers so he's kind of made me OCD about that as well.

And I want that striped blazer so much...I have no use for it but I think it would look terrific hanging in my closet. I just can't find it in myself to hand over 98 or any more than 50 for it since it's one of those pieces that I would have trouble getting creative with.

Sorry about my exceedingly long comment, I find it difficult to not comment on everything. :)

Kileen- I did wish that the camel color worked but I agree, the purple still keeps a vintage concept and is cute too! Haha, so you like the striped wool blazer too? You might have to fight with me and Elle since we are both drooling over it too. =0D

Elle- NAY, I should just leave the floating seam and pretend that I'm pregnant. I eat like I'm pregnant anyway.
DON'T get the dolman sleeve top unless it's on sale. Stupid me forgot how much I paid for it and wore it.
I emailed LOFT this time (employees are not really fond of me heh) about the scuba blazer and I will keep you updated if they find a 0p.
Of course you have a use for the striped blazer! Pair it with a flirty, pink ruffley skirt! <3

Wow, so many items reviewed! I would like to get the scuba blazer if it's on sale. A friend has the regular size, and I love love it! I didn't care for the scuba dress though.

The striped blazer is SO CUTE on you! And felt-like? Nice! My skin is also sensitive to itchy wools >__< Hahaha I like how you're willing to live with the XS (compared to XXS) for $10 more :p

Looove the cord blazer and the first tee! Not such a fan of the dress, haha. You can do a lot better. The striped blazer, I am also in love with. Gorgeous!!! I want one!

wow you could've started a lot of rumors with that dress LOL! It really DOES look like you are expecting, how strange!

Ok LOVE the first sweater, I adore tops like that, so comfortable. And the cord blazer fits you so well. The striped blazer is really cute too!

Sydney- Yea, there were a lot of items. I didn't post all of the items that I got too! Uh oh. There is currently a ruffle scuba blazer (I really hated the ruffle trim) and if you have someone take it off then it might be the same thing!

Sophia- I really hate itchy wools too! LOL yes, I'm guessing that the XXS won't last very long though like Elle said.

Ping- HAHA, I totally need to be get back into the blogging world. I have been really slacking! Heehee, yea my dog looks terrified of the bump that I'm sporting in the pictures. I think there might be some sculpted sheath dresses in stores, you should stop by and see if you can grab one for yourself! I hope you don't get a belly with it too. LOL.

Cindy- That is so tempting...good thing I know I can't afford it. LOL.

TinyinTexas- There are a lot of black dresses in my closet so I wouldn't be *too* sad if I didn't keep it. No harm in letting it sit in the closet while I wait, heehee. The stripe blazer is really pretty oh siiiight I wish it would go on sale already!

Curls- HAAHAHA, I know it looks like I'm about 6 months on the seam side and about 3 months on the other side. It's because the seam just peaks right at that wrong place...

The corduroy jacket looks amazing on you! I say keeper! :)

I am not a fan of the dress. I do not think it flatters your body enough to keep it. You said it...it makes you look pregnant! :p Do not let the sales women bother you. You are completely justified in making your returns!

And I am now in love with that striped wool jacket! :)

Thanks for the review!

Welcome back, Hanna! And you sure did so with a bang =)

I like this colored blazer so much better on you. I say keep since it fits and looks so well on you.

The scuba blazer isn't structured, right? I think it has more of a casual look to it, but because it's black, it can look more formal depending on what you wear with it. It seems pretty versatile to me, but the price tag is kinda steep considering the regular was marked down! (How unfair, LOFT!)

Haha @ the pregnant floating seam. If it's any consolation, I only see it from the side pic (the front view looks fine).

Great haul!

YAY NEW POST!

The Dolman T was $30?! That's a lot consider I got mine from Gap for like $17-20. Super comfy shirt. : )

The corduroy blazer is nice, but I don't really like the feel of the material. It looks really good on you!! Keep it!

lol the way you use booger makes me giggle.. :P The 00P dress looks a lot better, but I'm not diggin' the pregnant look. LOL Plus, it doesn't really flatter your body well.

I like the first two items on you! Too bad about the dress, but for some reason I kinda had a feeling it'd be too big on me so didn't jump on that bandwagon, now I'm glad I didn't! (I have enough LOFT items to return as it is!). What a huge price difference between the regular and petite scuba blazer... but with LOFT, everything gets marked down eventually if you're willing to risk running out of your size.

I like the stripe sweater you got on in the last pic, and lol yeah weird floating seam, I totally know what you mean!!

Thanks for these Loft reviews - I hope you keep the cord blazer, I think you look great in it! I had a cord blazer a while back and it really surprised me how versatile it was - sure you're not going to wear it for a business event, but it's great for weekends and casual workdays!

PetiteAsianGirl said...

Oh my, I can't believe the petite scuba blazer was regular price while the regular one was marked down to $40! What a shame...

And darn, I'm sorry I didn't see this review! I just added it to my post : ) So did you end up returning it? I would...the fit in the tummy area isn't worth it.

Ugh, I'm sorry that the LOFT employees were rude to you and that they were rolling their eyes. I know how that can be (I refuse to set foot in an American Eagle now) when it's the customer's right to exchange and return per store policies. Plus requesting the client shipment service...why should that bother anyone?? I felt the same way this weekend. I went in, bartered for a price adjustment on a clearance item, then decided against it after trying on like 15 things and only buying 1 lol.

I have the black dress in 00P and its a bit roomy but I think I can make it work..got it dirt cheap so I think I'll keep it!

Love love the corduroy jacket on you! Def keeper for sure!

Love, love that cord jacket on you, it's beautiful!!

Michelle- I tried pinning down the seam and it still won't take away from the buoyancy in that area. Bah, will be marching off right back to the store to return. For some reason the LOFT that I go to the ladies don't seem to be too happy in where they are working.

Cee- I don't think the scuba blazer is structured. It does have a loose fit so maybe I should wear it in a casual way like you suggested! I was hoping it would work as part of a suit. Seriously unfair that they didn't mark down the petites.
And the dress, I was standing there gawking at myself on how looming large I looked on my side. LOL

Jessy- Oh boy, I really like the Gap one you linked! Yea, I am definitely having buyer's remorse on my tee.
Yea the dress is a little too early to suggest such things that I'm not ready for.

PXXS- Oh goodness, if this dress was to big on me and XPetite, it would definitely be wallowing on you. You have good instincts!

Pop Champagne- It seems like the stripe sweater is getting quite popular!

Lisa- The corduroy blazer is also very warm too. I am really digging the color since the camel made me look too sallow. I can imagine it would look great paired with jeans or a skirt!

PAG- I had a very long post so thanks for reading it through! The dress might have worked after some tweaks but I'm not wanting to risk it. I do hate to whine about employees online but honestly they made me feel really uncomfortable returning and exchanging. Good for you for trying on multiple things and only buying one item! I hope you review it!

Really Petite- I saw that dress on your recent video and it looks a lot better than it did on me.

Callandra- Thanks! I think I might keep it after all. =0D
